Welcome to Artists for Autism Awareness, or A Cubed. Although we are still in the formation process, and this is a temporary website, we would like to share our idea. We at A Cubed want to bring a concert series to your home, via Stageit. As a concert attendee you would be able to buy tickets, sign on , and watch a live performance over the internet all from the comfort of your own home. It also enables our artists to be able to put on a concert from the comfort of their own home, for a great cause. We are in the process of partnering with Autism Speaks so that 40% of our proceeds can go to Autism Research, something that Autism Speaks does incredible work with.
I was a roadie and extra musician for years, I primarily worked with Toad The Wet Sprocket. One of the things I saw was that often times non-profit events were riddled with issues. Either they were promoted by people, who had the best of intentions, but just didn't know what they were doing, or a real promoter produced the show, and after everyone was paid, little money was raised for the charity. Further more, the poor artists were dragged around and put on display for those who paid the VIP money. We at A Cubed want our artists to have the best possible experience, after all they are donating their time and talent. Like wise we want our audience to get an up close and personal look at the artists who are donating so much for this great cause. In fact the two most important things we want to do, is raise money for autism, and give artists a way to do that, without a total invasion of their privacy, or a huge time commitment. I know that I am asking them to donate their lively hood, and for that reason I want to make it as easy, and as respectful as it can be.
Autism affects so many people, in so many ways. Whether we are a parent, sibling, relative, caregiver or a person on the spectrum. My life was turned upside down when my son was diagnosed with Autism. Nothing could have prepared me for what I would have to do, and I had worked with Developmentally Disabled kids prior to my son being born.
Aside from research, the other things we at A Cubed would like to help with, to name a few, are sibling services (for siblings of autistic children, my older son has also been effected greatly by his brother's condition), music therapy, awareness and outreach, and family services.
Please help us spread the word, like us on Facebook, follow us on Twitter @artists4autismA, and share and talk about us. You can also communicate with your favorite artists, and ask them to put on a show for A Cubed. Thank you so much!
